Biography: Dave Shayman, better known as Disco D, was just 18 years old when he emerged as a fresh face to the Detroit/Ann Arbor ghetto-tech and turntablist scene. From February to December of 1998 he was the resident at a club night sponsored by Ann Arbor's Intuit-Solar Records. The night gave Shayman the opportunity to spin with Derrick May, Amon Tobin, and Terrence Parker. In 1998, he released his first 12" EP, D-Down, on Intuit-Solar. In August of 1998, he signed on with Chicago-based Mixconnection Multimedia. That year, he released his second 12" record, Cannot Stop This, on MCM's sublabel, Contaminated Muzik. The ghetto-tech release received mixes by jungle producers, Danny the Wildchild and Phantom 45. In 1999, Disco D released Incomprehensible Representation of Self. ~ Diana Potts, All Music Guide
